This wonderfully romantic, and rare antique brooch, spells out the word 'LOVE' with the first letter of each gem: Lapis Lazuli, Opal, Verdite and Emerald.

The gems sit around a central foiled back cabachon Garnet amongst an incredible gold worked border, giving this brooch a really unique look. The gems sit in what looks like their original settings, and remain in pretty good condition given their's age. There are no hallmarks, but this piece has been tested for 18ct Gold and i would date it ot the mid-Victorian era. It measures 2cm x 2.4cm and weighs 3.55g.

This style of antique brooch would have been given to a loved one as a token of affection, and to demonstrate that the wearer was loved.
