This stunning antique Victorian locket is adorned with rows of Pearls and Coral stones, Circa 1870.
Pearls have been adored throughout history for their rich creamy tone that is lovely lustrous and natural. A true gift from Mother Nature.
From the depths of the sea, comes the beautiful Coral which is produced by tiny life forms. Same as Pearls, Coral is a water element of fiery colours in shades ranging from petal pink, to velvety red.
The piece is set in 18ct Gold gilt and decorated in beautiful engraved Forget me nots.
‘Forget-me-not, O Lord!’ is what a poor German knight shouted as he fell into a river. He and his lady were picking flowers by the side of the river at the time when the poor knight suddenly fell in and sank to the bottom. Upon his cries to the Lord, he threw the blue posy of flowers to his loved one. Hence, the concept of remembrance, eternal love and faithfulness grow from this.
The locket opens and closes securely with original rims and windows in place.
This is perfect to display your own photograph or piece of history in and would look lovely displayed on a Gold chain!
